White Dwarf - Poppy Seed
Background: Spectral Class A, Luminosity 10-3, Temperature 10,000

Little White Dwarf Poppy Seed was born big and bright from a molecular cloud. He was the coolest star around. He had this accident where he kept getting smaller and smaller. First he was this big red giant expanding and growing so big. Then parts of him started drifting apart into a planetary nebula. This makes him sad as physical appearance was becoming ugly. He turned into this white dwarf the size of earth he doesn’t feel so special now. But he little does he know that his life is almost over as he will shrink down to lifeless black dwarf

Astronomers have combined images that's over two decades old from the Hubble space station and turned them into movies. The reveal never before seen details of birth pangs of the new stars. They have energetic jets of glowing gas traveling at speeds in opposite directions through space. The pictures give a view of stars that move and change over just a few years.
These observations are giving clues about the final stages of a star’s birth, showing how the Sun behaved 4.5 billion years ago. There is many stages that the movie shows of how the things change in space over time. My opinion is that this is a great way to show us how things are forming in outer space. It also shows us how things have changed over the decades and what we find different now then couple of years ago.

This article is about NASA WISE mission capturing rare data of a flaring black hole. A lot of material is feeding these black holes such as accretion disks, and the jets themselves through studies using X-rays, gamma rays, and radio waves. There is a black hole called GX 339-4 its being observed closely it is 20,000 light years away from Earth. Like other black holes its ultra dense and has a mass that is 6 times greater then the sun. The gravity is so great with the black hole that not even light can escape it. Its radius is approximately 15,000 miles(24,000 kilometers) with dramatic changes. With new data the black hole magnetic field is 30,000 times more than the one generated on Earths Surface. My opinion is that this black hole is bad. But it really doesn't affect us because it is 20,000 light years away. It may affect other galaxies because its in other regions of space. But overall i don't think we should worry about this black hole.
3.http://www.astronomy.com/News-Observing/News/2011/10/Youngest%20planet%20seen%20as%20its%20forming.aspx
A young planet is being forming around its star. Astronmers are calling LkCa 15 b a protoplanet , surround by swath of cooler dust and gas. Which is falling into a still forming planet. This planet is the youngest planet ever to be found. The discovery of LkCa 15 b began as a survey of 150 young dusty stars in star-forming regions. That led to the more concentrated study of a dozen stars.
In other studies the astronomers discover that the phenomenon was more complex than a single companion object. Kraus and Ireland plan to continue their observations of LkCa 15 and other nearby young stars so they can predict how planets and stars are forming. I like this article because it shows us a planet forming. I find it interesting how planets form , and this shows how its forming around its star. I think that the star is forming around a star that's about to be a sun and maybe will have life on it.

This article is about the planet mars and how it turns hostile. It talks about how the planet was named roman god of war because its red it appears to be blood in the sky. It has harsh chemicals and the planet and a rocky red surface. Water a necessity for life can’t be there because of the environment it evaporates. The article also talks about how there are two spaceships going to visit the planet Mars. One spaceship is called Curiosity so it can pick up on the land soil and surface. They have a mission called Maven going up there also so that they can study the atmosphere of the planet. My opinion on this article is that are trying to discover more about mars. I’m glad that NASA is continuing their reach on our solar system because that is great for our country to learn more about our planets.

This article is about how NASA has found another planet like Earth. This planet is called Kepler and was found in the habitable zone that has a star such as the sun. They don’t know if the planet composition if its gases or liquid but that’s what they want to discover more about when they investigate the planet. They are also saying that they might have found earth’s twin so that we can live on it. Kepler planet is located 600 light years away. There are 48 planet candidates in the habitable zone. Even though it’s bigger then earth it travels 290 days around the sun-like star that resembles our world. My opinion I find it great that we found another planet like ours just in case something happens to Earth where we can’t live on it on no more. Even though it is so many light years away, I still find it a great discovery. They also have found other habitable planet candidates and that’s also good for us to have more options.
6.http://www.astronomy.com/News-Observing/News/2011/10/Planets%20smashed%20into%20dust%20near%20supermassive%20black%20holes.aspx
This article is about super massive black holes caused by collision of asteroids and planets. Scientist have came up with this new theory inspired by our solar system , where the so-called zodiacal dust is known to originate from collisions between solid bodies such as asteroids and comets. They are also saying that some galaxies contain not only black holes but planets and asteroids also. Collisions between these rocky objects would occur at colossal speeds as large as 620 miles (1,000 kilometers) per second, continually shattering and fragmenting the objects, until eventually they end up as microscopic dust. To understand the origin of where our dust comes from is important because we get to know how our galaxies get created. I find this article really interesting because I’m getting to know what’s happening out there in space and in our galaxies. I found that we keep learning about how galaxies and they are forming we can find more in our solar system.

7.http://astronomy.com/News-Observing/News/2011/10/Planets%20smashed%20into%20dust%20near%20supermassive%20black%20holes.aspx
Planets were smashed into dust due to planets crashing together. Its a new theory that international scientist came up with. The theory comes from our solar system , where the zodiacal dust originate from collisions of asteroids and comets. Scientist are also saying that in this region its black holes , planets , stars , and asteroids. Rocky objects would go 620 miles (1,000 kilometers) per second, destroying objects, until eventually they become dust.Sergei Nayakshin says that the environment would make the planets orbiting supermassive black holes sterile, even before they are destroyed. He also believes that the dust near black holes is important on how these black holes grow and how they affect their host galaxies. my opinion is that these collisions are going to keep on happening in that region of space. I feel that we cant do nothing about it. Hopefully they wont create black holes that comes near us. Maybe the black holes will create new planets also.
8.http://www.astronomy.com/en/News-Observing/News/2011/12/NASAs%20twin%20spacecraft%20on%20final%20approach%20for%20Moon%20orbit.aspx
This article is about NASA’s twin spacecraft to study the Moon from the inside out. It did this while traveling the lunar orbit. Gravity Recovery And Interior Laboratory (GRAIL), the spacecraft was scheduled to land on Dec 31. They also talk about the trip to the moon (Apollo) and how it took them to travel the moon. When science collection begins, the spacecraft will transmit radio signals precisely defining the distance between them as they orbit the Moon. The data will allow mission scientists to understand what goes on below the surface. This information will increase our knowledge of how Earth and its rocky neighbors in the inner solar system developed into the diverse worlds we see today. I feel that this article is interesting because its showing us that going to the moon and learning more about it is helping us.
9.http://www.astronomy.com/News-Observing/News/2011/12/NASA%20discovers%20first%20Earth-sized%20planets%20beyond%20our%20solar%20system.aspx
NASA’s Kepler mission has discovered the first Earth-sized planets orbiting a Sun-like star outside our solar system. The discovery marks the next important milestone in the ultimate search for planets like Earth. The new planets are thought to be rocky. Some planets are similar in size of the Earth and Venus. Both planets live in a five planet solar system called Kepler-20, . This article talks about many planets and how they are similar in sizes of many other planets in our solar system. The Kepler telescope detects planets and planet candidates. They also look at planet candiates which 150 light years away. This article is interesting because it’s showing many other planets that are out there so that we can live on it and can visit.
10.http://discovermagazine.com/2011/dec/02-computer-program-draws-realistic-exoplanets
This article is about Abel Mendaz is coming up with a better way to see the planets. He has came up with Software changes data points into a planetary portrait. The program is called Scientific Exoplanet Renderer., takes in information about the planet and its parent star, then it analyzes it and comes out with planets that are like it. It can visualize many different planets and atmospheres. I find this article interesting cause they are coming up with new ways to view planets. They are also saying that the most powerful telescopes are not working right now so they are coming up with new ways. These new ways might help us in the long run when discovering new planets.
